On Saturday the 11th November a small group of hardy Thames Landscape Strategy friends and sponsors braved the atrocious weather to unveil a new interpretation board as part of the London’s Arcadia Thames Landscape Strategy in Action! project. The board brings together a wealth of history surrounding the watermen of Richmond and the Thames. A dying sight on the river; Watermen are an important part of the river’s heritage and the board is just a small step along the way of presenting the information that may otherwise be lost.

Sponsored in part by eBay, the board was unveiled by Senior Vice President, Europe, Doug McCallum and TLS supporter Bamber Gascoigne in the pouring rain. It also depicts an excellent illustration of the Richmond Riverside, mapping out each of the features described. The board was greatly influenced and supported by the local watermen and boat builders including Mark Edwards whose company built the Jubilant.
